As many as 300,000 snow geese and 10,000 tundra swans gather in March in this area.

Because of the immensity of the area and how dry it was, it was pretty sparce until 1909 when the federal government started allowing free 320-acre homesteads instead of the 160 that had previously been allowed. The smaller homesteads did not make sense. When the Gibson Dam was completed in 1929 it brought water to approximately 83,000 acres surrounding this community and it became well known for fertile crop lands. Fairfield is the self-proclaimed "Malting Barley Capital of the World".

Perfect Home Finder

Today, many local real estate sites provide you with comprehensive searches of publicly listed properties from one or more Multiple Listing Services. Therefore, instead of reinventing the same wheel, we are utilizing Homes.com for the local listings and actually belong to a nationwide MLS.

It's important to note that many homes are sold before they officially hit the market. With our exclusive Perfect Home Finder Program, you can access unlisted and pre-market homes tailored to your specific needs in your desired locations. We uncover off-market properties that no one else is aware of, much like savvy investors do. This unique service is proprietary, so reach out to West Montana Homes to simplify your home search.
