Somers, Montana is a small community in the northwest corner of Flathead County on the shores of Flathead Lake, just north of Lakeside. With a population of around 1,200 people, it is the smallest unincorporated town in the county. Despite its size, the town has a rich history, from its early Native American roots to its development as a logging and farming community.

The area around Somers was first inhabited by the Kootenai and Salish tribes, who had lived in the region since ancient times. The first settlers in the area were trappers and loggers in the mid-1800s, though it wasn’t until the early 1900s that it was officially established. By the 1920s, the area had become an important farming and logging center, producing grain and lumber for the local area and beyond.

The town of Somers grew steadily through the 20th century, and today is home to a vibrant and diverse community. Along with traditional farming, logging, and manufacturing, the area has become known for its outdoor recreation and stunning natural beauty.
